Located on the tranquil back side of Caye Caulker lies the charming Iguana Reef. Upon arrival, just inquire around, and locals will gladly guide you to this hidden gem. As you step onto the soft, white sandy beach, a sense of serenity envelops you. Find your perfect spot under a shady umbrella, and before you know it, a friendly server, perhaps David, will cater to your needs. When the sun gets too warm, take a refreshing dip in the calm waters. And don’t miss out on the enchanting sea horses – a rare sight that adds to the magic of this secluded paradise. While the Lazy Lizard may be the go-to party spot, Iguana Reef offers a peaceful retreat for quality time with friends, all at a pocket-friendly price.
Situated just off the southern coast of Ambergris Caye, the Belize Hol Chan Marine Reserve beckons with its rich marine biodiversity. Aptly named “Little Channel” in the local language, it boasts a vibrant coral-filled gap within Belize’s expansive barrier reef. Spanning 3 square miles, this aquatic haven is teeming with an array of marine life, from graceful stingrays to majestic nurse sharks. Divided into four distinct zones, including the captivating Shark Ray Alley, the reserve is a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers alike. Visitors rave about the crystal-clear waters and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonders of the underwater world. To experience this marine marvel, book a boat tour from Caye Caulker or San Pedro and prepare for an unforgettable adventure.

Nestled just 5 miles south of San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye lies the Marco Gonzalez Maya Reserve, a hidden gem steeped in Mayan history. Unlike other Mayan sites in Belize, Marco Gonzalez thrived along a maritime trade route connecting the Yucatan and Central America. With 49 known structures scattered across its 7.5-acre expanse, this active archaeological site offers a glimpse into ancient Mayan life between 100 B.C. and A.D. 1500. Despite its significance, Marco Gonzalez remains relatively undiscovered, promising a serene and immersive experience away from the crowds. Plans for a visitor center are underway, but for now, visitors can embark on a tranquil 0.25-mile hike along a plank walkway to explore this captivating slice of history.

One of the absolute highlights of my time in Ambergris Caye is hanging out at the Truck Stop. Picture this: a lively food truck garden complete with a bar, ice cream parlor, and yes, even a pool! This place is the epitome of fun and relaxation. From outdoor movie nights under the stars every Wednesday and Saturday, to engaging trivia and other games on various evenings (be sure to check their social media for updates), there’s never a dull moment. Whether you’re with family, on a romantic date, or catching up with friends, the Truck Stop is guaranteed to impress. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Nestled in the glistening waters of the Caribbean Sea, Lighthouse Reef beckons with its pristine beauty and vibrant marine life. As the easternmost jewel of the Belize Barrier Reef, this atoll boasts unparalleled natural splendor. Here, beneath the azure waves, lies a world of wonders—a flourishing ecosystem adorned with coral gardens, towering walls, and a kaleidoscope of marine creatures.
